I've met people that were loyal workers for a company and thought that would pay off in the long run. Ultimately, the loyalty meant sweet FA.
To the defence of the company, in today's competitive world, I understand the impetus (and often necessity) for productive, adaptable and alert workers.
However, I feel as though (at least from what I have witnessed), bosses could provide more support to their loyal workers, notably with upskilling. I see that as some form of appreciation for that worker's services. On the flip side, some people aren't interested in upskilling and want to solely focus on a set of tasks, though the upskilling option and encouragement should be there more often than not.
