You raised a very good point regarding copyright strikes.

When there's a will, there's a way. In reality, I think the only way YouTube will take action is if:

- the government forces them to do so, or

- a competitor — one that offers a better deal for its content creators and viewers — comes along and rapidly takes away market share.

I am not holding my breath, at least for the foreseeable future.
